Can you hear them?
"If you come as softly
As the wind within the trees
You may hear what I hear
See what sorrow sees"
- Audre Lorde
"Audre Lorde was an American writer, feminist, womanist, librarian, and civil rights activist. She was a self-described "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet," who "dedicated both her life and her creative talent to confronting and addressing injustices of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia."- Wikipedia
Audre uses allusion, imagery and figurative language to create a calm and peaceful scene. She addresses the listener who will come to her and to whom she will speak to lightly and silently. It suggests how communication with the person is not an easy task.
