She was a self-described "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet," who "dedicated both her life and her creative talent to confronting and addressing injustices of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia."-  Wikipedia Audre uses allusion, imagery and figurative language to create a calm and peaceful scene. She addresses the listener who will come to her and to whom she will speak to lightly and silently.
